We hope you had a nice weekend despite all the rain. Our class is doing a fantastic job of following our morning routines of unpacking, praying and starting their morning work. We are very impressed with how quickly they have adjusted to their new surroundings.
We are really focusing on proper pencil grip and letter formation. When writing their names, we begin with an uppercase letter and the rest are always lowercase. We are proud of the progress they have made so far! Please encourage the same at home:)
Busy completing our morning work!
ELA: We are practicing printing our letters, especially the lowercase letters. We listened to poems and stories. Last week we started "partner reading." We practiced the letters b and f (recognizing it, picture, and sound) "b, bat, /b/" and "f, fun, /f/"in FUNdations. This week: we will identify the main idea in a story and retell key details. The letter this week is Mm and our sight word is "I."
Math: We finished Chapter 1- sorting and took our practice tests. They will be sent home this week for you to sign and return. We will be jumping around in our book so on to Chapter 3: Position Words- below, above, top, middle, bottom, over, under, on, inside, outside, beside, behind, in front, next to, between, left, & right.
Religion: We continue to practice making the sign of the cross as well as saying daily prayers. We are finishing Chapter 2- God gave us the gift of light. Next we will learn about God's gift of water.
Science and Social Studies: All about apples! The lifecycle of an apple and Johnny Appleseed. What do plants need to grow? What do animals and we need to grow?

*Gym on Friday- This Friday we will also be having a Pep Rally💙🤍Children can show their school spirit by wearing SKS spirit wear, gym uniform, or blue and white apparel with sneakers:)
*Scholastic book club order forms were sent home last week. A few people have placed their online orders, If anyone else would like to place an order, please submit it by Tuesday night. You can order any books off of the website. I will submit our class order Wednesday morning.
*Next Monday is our field trip to Sugartown Strawberries. If you haven't sent in your child's signed permission form and/or $12 cash please send it in tomorrow. Please send your child to school wearing their gym uniform and sneakers for the field trip as well as a bag for them to carry their pumpkin. If you are joining us, Farmer Bob asks that you pay him the $5 per person fee at the farm. We will eat lunch back at school following the field trip. Please meet us there at 9:45.
