Hello October

Welcome to Kindergarten

Mrs. Nord and Mrs. Ryan's Class

Hello October!

October has already brought us a ton of excitement! We had a fun time on our class trip to the pumpkin patch. Thanks to all of the parents who met us there to join us on the hayride and to help us pick pumpkins.  What a wonderful morning!

In ELA: We have learned the following sight words: I, like, the, and, see, we, a, to, me. Please practice the sight words located on the word ring. Below is a video of us singing along as we learn the sight word "we"!   We have also been learning about our 5 senses and enjoyed the story My 5 Senses by Aliki as well as Mice Squeak We Speak.  We talked about how animals communicate and the different sounds that they make and how they feel as they make those sounds. The next two Letter People we met were:
Ms. A who says "a'choo" and Ms. T who has "tall teeth"!

In Math: We have moved on to Chapter 2: Geometry and Patterns. First we learned about 3D shapes- sphere, cube, cylinder, cone, and rectangular prism and we reviewed our basic shapes. Now we are practicing the many ways to make patterns.

In Religion: We continue to practice how to make the Sign of the Cross and pray the Hail Mary. We also learned how God gave us the gift of the land. We attended Mass hosted by the 8th grade on Friday with 1st and 2 grade.

We have been learning about the season of fall and exploring the lifecycle of the apple. We also learned about bones and how important our skeleton is to our body.

Kindergarten is enjoying the song Witches Brew and each decided what they would add to their own witches brew...eww!

We also learned that nouns name people, places, things, and animals. We know that verbs name an action!        In Math: We completed Chapter One on sorting and took our first Math Assessment. We used our "offices" so we could keep our work to ourselves and stay focused;) Now we are moving on to Chapter 2: Geometry and Patterns.
