Valentine's and 100 Days

                             Welcome to Kindergarten

Mrs. Nord and Mrs. Ryan's Class

We have been so busy the past couple weeks in Kindergarten it has aged us!

Your busy bees loved celebrating Valentine's Day with their friends💘
Here we are decorating our Valentine Card holders:

So impressed with how they were able to read everyone's names while handing out their Valentine cards.

The teachers were treated with Valentine's too💝
We LOVED our Valentine's party! Thank you Mrs. Hetrick and Mrs. Pickard for the fun craft and Valentine snacks!

We celebrated 100 Days in school by dressing like 100 year olds👴👵

They even walked like they were 100!

What would we do if we were 100 today???

Happy February Birthday to Sadie!!!

We loved the cupcakes🧁

Happy February Birthday to Emma!!!

We loved the cookies🍪

Our Star Student of the Week was Max Hetrick!!

Did you know that Max's favorite thing to do is run and that his one wish is for a new cousin?!? Way to go Max!!

Classroom news:
In ELA: We have learned the following sight words: I, like, the, and, see, we, a, to, me, can, come, play, with, my, not, now, what, for, are, be. big, how, is, it, find, go, get, will, many, do, did, down, that, this, on, make, said, good, she, all, eat. Please practice the sight words located on the word ring.  We met Ms. J who has a "jingle jacket", Mr. X who is "different" because he says his name, and Ms. E who has "exercise energy." We read the stories Leo the Late Bloomer and Zinnia's Flower Garden. We discussed story structure in our  stories...characters, setting, problem, and solution. We also practiced pronouns such as they, it, I.  As we read and listen to stories we discuss the sequence of events: what happens first, next, and last. We continue to practice writing simple sentences using sight words and cvc words!

In Math: We completed Chapter 7- Addition. We love to add but it is time to move on to subtraction! We practiced subtracting both vertically and horizontally. We even practiced both addition and subtraction on the same page while looking for patterns. In honor of 100 days of school, we practiced counting to 100, writing our numbers to 100 and counting to 100 by 5's and 10's. We will have our subtraction assessment next week and then move on to money.

In Religion: We learned that our families can help us learn about God. Our families show us God's love by keeping us safe, talking things over with us, teaching us to share, and caring for others. We also learn about God with our friends. Together we can discover God's world by talking with each other, listening, learning, and helping one another. On Wednesday we will receive ashes as we begin the season of Lent.

We learned about some of our past Presidents and created log cabins:

Looking 👀 Ahead...

Wednesday, March 2- All are welcome to attend Mass at 9:00 hosted by the 3rd and 4th grades. Ashes will be distributed.

Week of March 14-18- Terra Nova Testing in the morning

Monday, March 21- Report Cards will be sent home

Wednesday, March 23- Dress Down Day!
