  Welcome to Kindergarten

Mrs. Nord and Mrs. Ryan's Class

New Year New Resolutions!

We wrote about our New Year's Resolutions...learn how to dance, eat healthier, learn to read, and karate are just a few!

❆We enjoyed our Winter Party last week. Many thanks to Mrs. Duffy for the fun picture frame craft, Mrs. Kelley for the awesome snacks, and Mrs. Libby for our story!❆

Happy January Birthday to Colin!!!

We loved the cupcakes🧁

Our Star Student of the Week last week was: Lucia Parisi!

Did you know that Lucia's favorite thing to do is help her friends and that her one wish is for a dog?!? Way to go Lucia!!

This week our Star Student is: Evie Pickard!
Did you know that Evie's favorite thing to do is color and that her one wish is for a pet baby deer?!? Awesome Evie!!

Classroom news:
In ELA: We have learned the following sight words: I, like, the, and, see, we, a, to, me, can, come, play, with, my, not, now, what, for, are, be. big, how, is, it, find, go, get, will, many, do, did, down . Please practice the sight words located on the word ring.  We met Mr. D who does a "dazzling dance." We read the stories What Is Science?, From Caterpillar to Butterfly, Atlantic, and Sheep Take a Hike. We practiced asking questions and placing a question mark at the end of sentences that asked a question. We also looked for details in our stories, practiced sequencing, reviewed proper nouns and verbs, and now continuing to practice cause and effect. We are practicing writing simple sentences using sight words and cvc words!

BRRR! Since it's winter we wrote about things that we like to do this time of year⛄

In Math: We completed Chapter 5- counting, writing, and recognizing numerals to 31, comparing groups that are greater than, less than, equal, numbers that come before, after, and between. We are now moving on to Chapter 6- tallies and graphs. We also are taking surveys. What is the most popular ride at the amusement park...ferris wheel or roller coaster?? Our class favorite is: the roller coaster!!

We had fun surveying each other!

In Religion: We are learning about Jesus as a child, the Holy Family, how He grew up in Nazareth and how He loved to teach others about God. All of us are trying to act just like Jesus.

We learned about the life of Martin Luther King Jr and how he fought for equal rights. We talked about how we can make the world a better place just like Dr. King💙
